The new version of the package (0.15.0+git20080820-1ubuntu4) seems to
fix this bug as far as I can tell.

I can confirm this on my Dell Latitude D830 amd64 machine. I get the
exact same set of error messages in my log file. I can also confirm
that reverting back to the previous version makes it work again,
although not perfectly. (the mouse is too slow and changing the
settings in the xfce settings
