Is this actually a bug? I mean it's a change in behaviour, but is it right to
say that it should have a white background?
Transparent seems perfectly reasonable to me for a postscript rendering of an
eps image - especially since there is an option to turn alpha off if you don't
want it.

Can you check if this is still an issue with the latest upstream version of
imagemagick (by looking at the source) and if so, forward the bug upstream?
