SUCCESS! I was able to get full-color from the S-video out with the latest
package; however, some strange side-behavior related to sound, but that may
be a different and unrelated issue. Thanks to all who've worked on this!`

yes, both. i've also tried "NTSC-M" as xrandr told me there was no such
choice as "NTSC" alone.
