Still happening. Very annoying since it blocks the whole application for
30+ seconds to do some kind of network check when you click on the
printer connected to a shutted down host. No window repaint happens, and
the whole application is unusable, leading the user to try and close the
window (think

Moreover, if I try clicking on the offline printer in the printing
dialog, the whole application (e.g. evince) freezes for more than 30
seconds, and doesn't event repaint itself on the screen.
Any help with this?

If it works with "lpr", then it is not a cups bug, but a bug in
gtkprint.
However, I just created a disabled (bogus) queue for a nonexisting host.
Regardless of whether the queue is enabled or disabled, I see it in the
GTK print dialog (e. g. evince) and can queue jobs to it. What is the
output of
