I can confirm that removing the /.suspended file fixes the problem for
my T61.

I think I've found the cause: this apparently happens when there is an
existing file /.suspend on the system. I removed this file, and I'm
back to the old behavior (suspend working modulo the USB bug).

@Dan: since it works after a reinstall, could this have something to do
with nVidia-specific settings in the X config (Bug #34043) or in
POST_VIDEO or SAVE_VBE flags in the acpi scripts? Could you check your
two systems for such differences?

The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would

I have reistalled 8.04 on another disk, and added all current update,
and most programs I had. Suspend works. I keep the the disk with the
problematic installation for a while.
