Sorry, I found out a week ago that it was a glitch with the phone
manager not letting the power manager run. not the nvidia driver. So I
guess I should go post this problem somewhere else. Sorry for the
confusion.

I have the same problem, but I don't think you expanded on it much.
Because of the power manager for gnome isn't loading on startup, it
causes a awkward delay in logging off or shutting down. However, if you
goto change the settings for the power manager, it loads up and does
