Apparently only X freezes, as I am able to log in to the machine through ssh.
Running top shows that X is eating up 100% of one processor core. I also
attached to X with strace and got tons of this:

heh, I was wrong, it still happens but not always as it used to. I
managed to reproduce the crash once today, and pressed alt+sysrq+1 and
alt+sysrq+t to get a list of running tasks and their info. Hope it
helps. I'll attach the kernel log which contains with a days worth of
logs, and the tasks info
This seems fixed on 4.1 RC1 packages. I just updated yesterday, and then
it stoped crashing. I'll attach the aptitude log.
