This big report was really a question. And it's been solved
mysteriously. Thank you.
** Description changed:

  Hi there,

When I first installed 8.04 on my Acer TravelMate C200 with Wubi
(Installed inside with 10Gig storage) on Windows XP tablet edition,
there was no sound. After using the Update Manager to bring the system
up-to-date the machine managed to play hardly recognizable sound with
  static noise.

Right now whenever I play sound, from Youtube.com or Eperience
Ubuntu.ogg in the Examples folder, the static sound instead of clear
  sound is heard.

The below is some info about the machine:

Also, in the terminal, the beeping sound when I hit backspace is very
loud. This leaves me wonder if it's a problem with the PITCH or
  FREQUENCY?

I'm new with linux and ubuntu. And thanks in advance for your help!

+
+ Update to the post above.
+
+ Subject: Problem solved
+
+ I decided to reinstall Wubi in Windows and upon reinstallation, there
+ was no sound. I then opened Firefox to check out pages on youtube.
+ Firefox notified me of installation of needed plug-in. I chose Adobe
+ flash player and after which it played sound! Perfect pitch!
+
+ And quickly I tried the files in Examples folder. They all work!
+
+ Now I'm happy with the way it goes, though I don't what really happened
+ to have caused the sound to distort.
+
+ Thank you.

Also, in the terminal, the beeping sound when I hit backspace is very
loud. This leaves me wonder if it's a problem with the PITCH or
  FREQUENCY?

I'm new with linux and ubuntu. And thanks in advance for your help!

  Regards,

  Update to the post above.

  Subject: Problem solved

I decided to reinstall Wubi in Windows and upon reinstallation, there
was no sound. I then opened Firefox to check out pages on youtube.
Firefox notified me of installation of needed plug-in. I chose Adobe
flash player and after which it played sound! Perfect pitch!

And quickly I tried the files in Examples folder. They all work!

- Now I'm happy with the way it goes, though I don't what really happened
- to have caused the sound to distort.

  Thank you.
