I just found out that this is probably just Bug 214027, which is fixed
in Intrepid.
If that's really the case, this is a duplicate of a fixed bug and can be

I can't give *exact* steps to reproduce it as I haven't figured them out
myself. Everytime the problem happened it was when I tried to maximize a
window from Transmission, such as the properties window of a torrent.
However, most of the times maximization goes fine. Furthermore, the
problem *never*

I'm having the same (very scary) problem with Transmission. In this and
the following messages I attach the xorg config and logs. Two things are
worth mentioning: I never touched xorg.conf manually (everything you see
was automatically generated) and I use nvidia-glx-new.
