What I understood from the original report was that he/she was using a
fresh install of GNOME 2.22.2 on a 64 bit Ubuntu system. This could be
done via terminal through a server install of Ubuntu 7.10 as well, so I
was a little confused about what the original poster was using.
Anyway, the OP said
2.22.2 is only in Hardy (8.04).
The original reporter mentions it was a fresh install.

Is it a fresh Ubuntu install?
