2010 has arrived. The fish doesn't lag but it still does flicker the screen
saver and the lock screen.
Perhaps we should consider to remove these GNOME "easter eggs".

Well, I think that the fish shouldn't make the screensaver lag.

That's what you get for freeing the fish!!
Probably, you should "kill the fish" before you start the screensaver.
To kill the fish do Alt+F2 and and type "killall gnome-panel" (your
panels will come back...).
