I should add a couple confusing details I'm experiencing. When testing
Sound Preferences, only "Autodetect" and "OSS" work (that is, they are
heard on the server when played on the thin client). Flash Video on
YouTube is also heard on the server, which surprises me because I have
libflashsupport
