The problem is still not fixed in Jaunty. I still had to modify my
/etc/fstab so that the partitions carrying my music would auto-mount at
startup and rythmbox wouldn't throw up import errors. I don't expect any
new user to know the problem and the way to fix it. All he would think

Well there I was thinking I was being a stick in the mud - yes I know
you can do this through /etc/fstab but I'd like hal or something to just
detect the volumes on my machine and automount them. I tried right
clicking on the volumes in computer:/// and configuring the options
under Drive or Volume
I also confirm that it's annoing to have to open my "data" partition
before I run rhythmbox.
IMHO mount tool should have very simple interface, with steps like
1. Choose desired partition to mount (using some nice GUI, that shows
only known filesystems and maybe a bunch of data from each partitio
I'm using KDE, but it really annoys me too. Past (K)Ubuntu releases used to
automount my partitions after I installed them, but not Hardy. It automounted
it only when I opened it with Konqueror. I had to open it first in Konqueor to
play my music in Amarok... Even though KDE has a nice Disk & Fi
I can see why this submission's Importance was tagged Undecided. Still,
this guy kind of makes a valid point. From versions 7.X to 8.04.1 the
automatic mounting of pre-defined partitions was either switched on or
off by the installer and scanning default options in /etc/fstab I guess

What has been done:
Ubuntu 8.04 x64 installed, during setup I choosed manual partitioning (to
avoid data deletion) and only setted up / mount point (since as far as I can
guess from setup program all data on partitions choosen during setup about to
be erased).
