Strange but it works now. I don't know how but it is solved. I tried the commands above and it didn't seem to work. I removed and add the trash icon on the panel, I rebooted and now it is working. Happy camper again :-) -- nautilus hangs on accessing trash https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/234843 Y

I have the exact same problem. When I try to run /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd -r nothing happens and /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd-trash gives: "Added new job source 0x8075808 (GVfsBackendTrash) Queued new job 0x8076820 (GVfsJobMount) send_reply, failed: 0 register_mount_callback, mount_reply: (nil), error: 0x80738
