Can anyone confirm this is not a problem on Lucid (10.04)?
Looking back at comment #4 by 'pct', I believe
/usr/lib/amanda/libamanda-2.6.1pl1.so is the corresponding DSO on a
Lucid system. And the DSO does contain a "/usr/bin/ssh" string.

Bdale, looks like the Debian package has the same issue: it lacks the
string in comment #4 and presumably won't support ssh-security. Short of
changing upstream configure.in, would it be acceptable to add a build-
dep on ssh ?

Package amanda-common is the one that needs to get rebuilt
This also affects amanda-client, as amrecover can't ssh to the server because
of this problem. I get instead:
r...@titan:/etc/amanda# amrecover daily
amrecover: error: couldn't exec : No such file or directory
close debug file: Bad file
Rebuilding amanda-server as described by pct above fixes the issue for
me as well.

I also have this problem and I suspect the error is coming from ssh-

In particular, SSH appears to be undefined. This appears to be a
packaging problem. Building from Ubuntu sources (apt-get source amanda-

In amanda 2.5.2, amcheck-clients is the process name for a child process
forked by amcheck. The exec error is coming from amcheck-clients, it's
not complaining about amcheck-clients as something that isn't
executable.

Indeed amcheck-clients seem not to be a part of 2.5.2, or at least it
isn't called from amcheck.c *in their own 2.5.2 repo*. Wouldn't it be
nice if server-src/amcheck.c in a package purporting to be 2.5.2
actually contained 2.5.2 code?
