Hello Cheryl,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with the hplip
package. You made this bug report in 2008 and Ubuntu and hplip have been
updated since then.
Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the
ticket?
If it is still a problem, a

Title:

The printer has been working mostly flawlesly since i did this, odd that
it wasn't enough to just reboot after the instalation but there you go.
I still considere this a bug, but now there is a work around.

Ok found a workaround to get this crap to work.
1: Add printer (the usb://HP/OfficeJet, not the hp:/usb/OfficeJet)
2: turn off the printer, turn on the printer
3: run sudo /etc/init.d/cups restart
After that it seams to always print, but we haven't attempted restarting
the computer yet.

Some progress
1: Change the Device-URI from USB to HPLIP
2: Change the Model to "HP OfficeJet G85 CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.4 [en]"
5: Print a test page
6: Turn the printer off and back on
This made it print out one test page, and then nothing :/

Here's the log from the truble shooting guide
(system->administration->printing->help->trubelshoot).
Here is the part that looks a little odd to me
'D [29/Dec/2009:19:46:13 +0100] Get-Jobs

'D [29/Dec/2009:19:46:13 +0100] [Job 1] Loading
There are no stuck jobs in the print queue.
We will try an add some apport data, but LP keeps giving an error when
we attempt to upload the report.

Hi Cheryl,
Have you upgraded to Intrepid (Ubuntu 8.10)? If so, does this printer work now?
If you have not upgraded to Intrepid, I would suggest doing so. See the
instructions here: http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/upgrading
