Hi there
I've just installed a clean system and am having the same issue on an
AMD neo 64 based laptop with ATi hardware. Do you think it could be the
same issue? System wakes up, fans start and there's HD activity but it's
like it fails to restart the screen hardware.

Following two steps fixed my problem:

First: update your /etc/X11/xorg.conf and add an "Option "NvAGP" "1" line in
the "Section "Device" (note that this is necessary even for PCI-Express
graphics cards for resume to work reliably):

Should have mentioned: The laptop has a radeon 2400HD, and using the
stock driver off the daily live cd. As well the bug happens under hardy
with the ati binary driver.

I just tested this on an Acer laptop, should be a Mobile IntelĀ® GM965
Express. I tested off the most recent daily live build. I'd include
lspci etc but it's also not seeming to connect to my wireless network.
I'll see if I can update with more info, however as it stands right now,

The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.

Attaching /var/log/kern.log because the kern.log.0 was from the previous
day. I'm not sure how useful it would be as the laptop didn't crash on
resume and it actually booted fine.

I followed the instructions in the above link about
NvidiaLaptopBinaryDriverSuspend and they actually fixed the problem. If
my tv is plugged in to my s-video out from the card it doesn't want to
suspend at all though. If I unplug it then it suspends/hibernates and
then resumes fine. I'll still atta

I got an R3000z with the same video card, this instruction works for me
(just installed and updated Hardy yesterday):

It can always go into suspend but the chance of coming back are 5 out of
7 so far.
