hi, finally its ok, i have sound, i did change the music and video
source in the sound properties capplet for alsa instead of auto detect
and it fixes the thing. it did not work the first time i tried cause i
had also unchecked the audigy analog/digital box in the mixer applet.
now everything is wo

i have reinstalled totem to perform further testing. Up to now i tried
with some .mpg and .avi. Multiple try on different files of those 2
types, and no success. those play perfectly in mplayer.
On my earlier post i said that mplayer work out without any
modification. i will correct that by saying
do you get the issue on any video?

I did try your suggestion, but unfortunately, it did not help. in fact i
don't get any sound when pressing the test button next to the option you
suggested. What i did since i really needed to watch video, is uninstall
totem and install mplayer in place of it. That worked without any other
modifica
