Sorry, I no longer have access to that hardware to perform the test (it was
the property of a former employer). However, I can tell you I did perform a
network install using the mini iso as late as about three/four weeks ago.
At that time (post 8.4.1 release) it still had a problem.

upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would

The previously mentioned similar bug (42974) referenced Bug #40297,
where the submitter tried booting using different values in the
"vga=xxx" option.
I found that adding vga=773 to my boot options allows me to boot up w/o
a corrupt screen.

This sounds similar to Bug #42974, however that is two years old. I had
also installed Ubuntu 7.04 on both of these systems and did not
experience these problems with that version. Consequently either this
bug reappeared or it is a new bug.

This video shows the video corruption at bootup. Note, shortly after
"Loading Hardware Drivers" is displayed, the screen is corrupted and
then returns once gdm/fluxbox is launched.
