Ah, ok, yeah. Nvidia's drivers for Intrepid are known to really mess up
suspend. Well, can you try using the Vesa driver (sorry, no 3D),
suspending, and resuming, then post back regarding whether this bug
needs more work or is fixed?

Yes, I'm using the privative NVIDIA drivers from the Restricted Drivers
manager. I'm on the 64 bits edition, but I think i will go back to 32

have released drivers for Intrepid that don't allow the computer to
resume from suspend (doh!).

likely do not have the same hardware as artir.

Hi I have started to get this issue since upgrading to 8.10. It was fine
on 8.04. sudo alsa force-reload fixes the problem.

I have 8.10 and have the same issue... sound doesnt work after suspend.
I am working around the problem by:
sudo /etc/init.d/alsa-utils stop
sudo /etc/init.d/alsa-utils start
but a permanent solution would be appreciated

The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:
1) If you are comfortable

Thanks a lot!. I logged out(Close sesscion), the Ctrl alt f1 and typed your
command. Then i relogged and i hear the login sound. After thar, rhymbox and
anything works perfectly.
Now, where is the real bug? This is just a workaround...

exits, so here is that file.
The modprobe thing says both in a normal reboot/resume from suspend:
ERROR: snd_hda_intel is in use. Even if i dont have anything that plays
audio.

Also, someone mentioned that doing a 'sudo modprobe -r' on your snd*
modules and then reload it with 'sudo modprobe snd-hda-intel' that might
help...

things we need to assist us in finding the problem..
1) Could you please post the contents of /proc/asound/card0/codec
2) Also if you could log out of your gnome/kde/xfce and drop to a text console
and issue the command 'sudo /

Oh, and one more thing: When I suespended, in order to get sound I
rebooted, but when the orange bar dissapeared(one second after that
usually it shuts down), nothing happened. I used reset to reboot.
Nothing weird happens if i dont use suspend.
