Unfortunately, things seem to be worst with natty. Copying a 700MB file
from the disk to an USB stick (PQI i810plus) "freezes" the system for
some second every now and then. Load is abnormally high and data
transfer is pretty slow (~1MB/s).
Are there really only 5 people affected by this?

Also affects me on a fresh Maverick installation. Copying large files
from one USB 2.0 HD to another USB 2.0 HD makes load go up to >5.
Transferspeed is around 20 MB/s.

In case I did not emphasize this enough: this new Laptop of mine is
completely fresh! New Ubuntu, almost nothing else installed - and this
behavior of not being able to copy a single file quickly is
reproducible!
Please fix it... :-/

Hi folks!
I am having exactly the same problem described here: whenever I copy large 500+
MB files (video) to any USB connected drive, stick, whatever - the copy starts
with a high speed (35+ MB/s), but eventually - approx. after half of it - it
stalls, CPU load rises and the speed drops down to
Thanks for reporting this bug and any supporting documentation. Since
this bug has enough information provided for a developer to begin work,
I'm going to mark it as confirmed and let them handle it from here.
Thanks for taking the time to make Ubuntu better!
