Seems to have been a configuration error. /dev/shm was there already on
dapper.

Make sure that you have the ATI driver loaded correctly. Run
'fglxinfo', if you see Mesa 3D or anything other than ATI. It should
look like this:

and kubuntu dapper amd64) both installing the Dapper's Included Driver (8.25.1
and
generating Ubuntu packages for the 8.25.18 drivers in Ubuntu Dapper manually,
but the error message is different:
