I can confirm this bug, but I'm not sure it's a bug in amarok, or that
it's realistic to fix.
I'm thinking that the way amarok does the EQ is that it lowers the
volume for all parts of the sound spectrum so it has enough room to
boost it up a little of the EQ goes above the zero line.

It's true, activate the EQ and the volume drops, but boost the preamp
and it'll regain it's previous volume, this isn't a bug. Change the
settings and change the sound, it's common knowledge.
