I had this same problem. Here is how I resolved it:
>open up gconf-editor: alt-f2 gconf-editor
>go to system/storage/drives
>delete the key with the problem mountpoint
now when you remount the device it will

I've unfortunately reproduced this bug... it is a total pain...
Any ideas on a work around? I'm googling to find some way to be able to
mount this volume or remove the set mount point as we speak, but I'm not
having any luck.
I'm currently unable to access any data on the removable volume becaus
