I believe this started happening in the latest kernel update, or fglrx update,
i cant remember what happened first.
But this is new to me, my Acer Aspire 5500 series Laptop stops sound, new
windows arent shown, stops everything (but mouse lasts 5 seconds more to stop)

The Intrepid Ibex 8.10 Beta release was most recently announced -

Ubuntu kernel. It would be great if you could test and verify if this
is still an issue. The status is being set to Incomplete until we
receive further feedback.
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:
1) If you are comfortable
Just to see if it makes a difference, care to test the upcoming Intrepid
Ibex 8.10 kernel? It was most recently rebased with the upstream 2.6.25
kernel and is currently available in the following PPA:

I have the same problem-Ubuntu won't boot up in normal mode, but will
work in failsafe mode.

Hey GTengeneer.
I think i read about your problem before. It's different to mine. I
believe yours has something to do with your built-in WLAN device. Just
read through the bug system here I can't find the right bug thread right
now.
My problem isn't solved yet though. Just had a complete lockup j
I am having a similar problem. The computer locks up hard and
unexpectedly, there is no input through mouse or keyboard at all. The
numpad, caps lock and scroll lock LED's all begin to flash.
My system:
Intel Q6600
Asus P5K Premium
GSKILL 8GB
MSI 8800GT 512MB

Hi,
We just need a little more information to begin debugging. Per the
kernel team's bug policy, can you please attach the following
information. Please be sure to attach each file as a separate
attachment.

* sudo lspci -vvnn > lsp
My LG P1 is a Laptop with common hardware. I am adding a few specs, as
they might help:
- Intel Centrino Duo with Core Duo CPU
- Intel ABG 3945 Wireless
- ATI X1400 Mobility
- 2GB DDR2 667 RAM
- SATA Harddisk, 250GB
- Using a Bluetooth mouse by Logitech
Compiz is NOT enabled.
