I got 7.10 in by switching monitors. Works flawlessly. Definitely not a
hardware issue.

All is fine on my spare e machines. 8.10 works flawlessly. I tried to
install 7.10 on my primary machine. After a resolution problem it went
in. But I can not load any repositories for 7.10. It does how ever see
all cds/dvds. Since the repositories will not refresh It was an exercise
in futility.
Fresh upgrade of Jaunty and the issue is still the for me. In Hardy and
Intrepid I could reboot with the medium in the drives and burn using
Nautilus. Jaunty recognizes them on boot at start up but is not seeing
the blank disk in any burning program. I'm fairly new to Ubuntu, only
since Gutsy. I'm
the issue should be fixed in jaunty, you can reopen if you still get the
issue after upgrading though

Similar problems occur with any mounted volume.
For example, as user A, insert a USB stick. With default settings, a
Nautilus window will open on A's desktop (good); but Nautilus will also
try and open a window for the new volume on B's desktop (bad), resulting
in a dialog box reporting the lack o
Should have added: a similar thing occurs with remote logins via nx, for
example. Also, although I can't check just now, I think this is a
regression since gutsy (I may be wrong).
