I also had to remove the AWN from the sources. Commented it out of
/etc/apt/sources.list, but the realized that I could just do it from
System->Aministraction->Software Sources->Third-Party Software->un-
select 'http://ppa.launchpad.net/awn-testing/ubuntu hardy main' . Now
Synatpic is working agai

Hi i am also affected by this on Ubuntu 8.04. I have all the latest
updates. The only solution to get the package manager to work is to
remove the two source entries for awn testing.
