Ok, I just tried the current daily LiveCD and there the problem is gone.
So I'm not really sure this needs a fix still.
I guess it depends on the daily version the rest is using.

I just experienced this same issue last night, and ended up installing
LILO instead of GRUB. That system is up and running, so I am attaching
the requested files in hopes that they'll be helpful.

Collin, I'm sorry but I reinstalled with my old beta installation disk,
so I no longer have this install.
