Oh, I just noticed, I am not using amd64. I'm using an i686. I hope this
isn't the wrong place to put my bug. Here's my info, just in case...
My kernel
$ uname -a
Linux drew 2.6.24-16-generic #1 SMP Thu Apr 10 13:23:42 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux
info on my firefox pkg:
$ dpkg-query -p firefox-3.0
Confirmed on x86. 3.0b5 from Mozilla works without any segfaults.

I should probably add, the amd64 install doesn't have firefox-gnome-
support etc.
FF on my laptop (i386) with those packages seems to work, I didn't try
removing them yet.
