Please re-open this bug, I don't think this is invalid. I had the same
problem too and for a not so experienced user, there is *absolutely no
hint* that when Insert/Formula doesn't work, that he/she has to open
Synaptic and install openoffice.org-math.
I recommend:
* either installing openoffice.o
Install openoffice.org-math
** Changed in: openoffice.org (Ubuntu)
Status: New => Invalid
