This look like the same problem on my Acer Aspire 9810 with kernel 2.6.24-15. $cat /proc/asound/cards --- no soundcards --- but KinfoCentre reports that I have an intel 82801G (ICH7) HD audio controller It use to work. even with hardy up until yesterday. Now it can't even see the sound card. --
