I can no longer reproduce this bug, as I have upgraded to intrepid and
am now using the open source r55 3d driver. Xmoto closes correctly now.

the first time you run xmoto, it updates its database.
with version prior to 0.4.0, the screen wasn't refreshed properly during this
operation, which lead people to think that xmoto hanged out.

I have experienced a similar problem with an nvidia graphics chip and
the Nvidia binary driver.
