Checking the changelog and the packaged versions. It appears Dapper,
Feisty, and Gutsy are all affected. This bug is SRU worthy. Hardy and
Intrepid are not affect (a2ps is Depended on by xfprint4). Nominating
Dapper, Feisty, and Gutsy for SRU.

I had similar problems with xfprint - Xubuntu 7.10 gutsy. xfprint
locked up before installing a2ps package. After a2ps installation,
xfprint works fine. It's clearly noted in the Xfce documentation that
xfprint uses a2ps. Whoever prepared the Xubuntu install just missed it.
I used the Alternate
xfprint4 and a2ps seems to do the work. I have three other packages on
my system for printing which are: gnome-cups-manager cups-pdf cupsys-
driver-gutenprint. I don't have a default Xubuntu system but I installed
everything myself so this is all that I have installed to get Mousepad
to print on my
So installing a2ps fixes the problem?

OK, I'm a liar ! Without thinking, I looked for a2ps on my PC, but
I forgot that it was then running RH9. DOH! So it really lacks a2ps.
The Ubuntu 7.04 guys forgot to stir it in.

Yes, it seems to be installed. Locate finds one
hundred or so instances. There is a /usr/share/a2ps
directory that is full of files.

Yes, a2ps its installed.
Curiously, i get this crash again, after a fresh install of a daily
build of the Xubuntu-Alternate CD. But after a few crashes is not
happening to me again.
