Using the test plan above on a full-updated Ubuntu Studio install. Ran
the upgrade and it went swimmingly. Output from log greps below:

In a Studio 24.10 fully updated install I ran the test plan upgrade.
The upgrade seemed to run successfully and reboots to a complete and working
system.
Desktop metapackages remained installed, and the logs confirm that the upgrader

Hello Erich, or anyone else affected,
Accepted ubuntu-release-upgrader into plucky-proposed. The package will
build now and be available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/1:25.04.15
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.
Please help us by testing this
I will upload to questing with the initial u-r-u upload for that series,
but I am uploading a fix to plucky now.

** Description changed:
+ [Impact]
+
+ Upgrade failures on Ubuntu Studio can result in the desktop metapackage
+ being removed. This is because ubuntustudio-desktop-core is not a known
+ metapackage in ubuntu-release-upgrader currently (it only knows about
+ ubuntustudio-desktop).
+
+ [Test Plan
ubuntustudio-desktop is not being marked for removal at any point, only
ubuntustudio-desktop-core is and that later gets reverted, of course,
incompletely as we don't have a journal

Just a small update: this issue with the removal of `ubuntustudio-

Indeed, this is the case.

Possibly. LP: #2105900 might be a duplicate of this produced with
Kubuntu.
