- the problem doesn't exist anymore in 8.04 since an update I don't remember
well, but securly a few months ago.
- the problem did never exist on 8.10, running on my laptop.

Synaptic Package Manager will not start from screen icon or
Administration drop-down screen. I have removed it with sudo apt-get
remove synaptic and then reinstalled it with sudo apt-get install
synaptic. Rebooted and Still no luck.
