I have been struggling with getting Philips USB speakers (which worked
fine with Gusty Gibbon) to work with Jaunty. I have set
system>preferences>sound all outputs to "USB sound device USB audio
ALSA" and volume control to "USB sound device (ALSA mixer)".

Thanks for the update. Marking Fix Released as per the previous comment about
this being fixed in Jaunty. If you need a fix for the bug in previous versions
of Ubuntu, please do steps 1 and 2 of the SRU Procedure [1] to bring the need
to a developer's attention.

No problem with Logitech V10 in Jaunty on my hp 2140. Speakers are
chosen in preferences -> sound (PulseAudio, Logitech Speaker USB Audio
(OSS) and Logitech Speaker USB Audio (ALSA) - all are working)

Confirming for Intrepid:
Logitech V10 speakers don't work with Ubuntu 8.10 on my Sony VAIO SR-series out
of the box.
However they DO work if I remove all pulseaudio related packages from my
system and reboot

Hi,
I have not been using the speakers now since 8.04. I don't feel I have
the time or technical knowledge to work on this, I was just hoping
someone might have a quick-fix! I'll wait till 8.10 and give it a go then.
