@p-pisati: The new kernel doesn't show up for me yet for whatever
reason, but with nvidia NVIDIA-SMI 570.86.16 and kernel
6.12.0-12-generic everything works.

When the bug occurs, the Nvidia card seems to be present at first (along
with my integrated graphics):

Booting kernel 6.11 also fixes it. But you may not have a 6.11 kernel
driver for Nvidia 560 at first so you'll also need to install 'nvidia-
dkms-560-open' and reboot into 6.11 a second time.
