My bug no longer appears with the new driver beta 565.57.01.
Even launching the nvidia-smi application is lightning fast.

Title:
nvidia-smi runs
If I run nvidia-smi on my Kubuntu 24.10 with 550 or 560(more not tested), I get
a message, see the attached file.
When I run nvidia-smi for the first time, the message appears about 6 times.
On the second run, maybe only 3 times.
__vm_enough_memory: pid: 15820, comm: nvidia-smi, bytes: 5153974272
I am seeing the same issue on two Ubuntu installations with two
different Nvidia GPUs.
`sudo chmod o-w /var/run/nvidia-persistenced/socket` does the trick but
as already said `systemctl disable nvidia-persistenced` does not work.

Interesting, my persistenced config seems to set no persistence mode (I
think this is the default), I tried changing it to enable persistence
mode, but still have the issue. Didn't have the idea to disable it
completely. Disabling it fails with an error messsage, but stopping the
daemon does avoid
Workaround: `sudo chmod o-w /var/run/nvidia-persistenced/socket`
It will fail again after a reboot.
To disable persistence daemon permanently: `systemctl disable nvidia-
persistenced`
