I'm also affected by this. My scripts are in /opt/[application], so the
quick fix of the other users didn't work.
I suspect that there's a new recommended way to deal with custom scripts
that need to be run by monit. I'm of course interested in doing thing
the proper way.

Also affected me yesterday after upgrading from 22.04 LTS to 24.04 LTS.
Purging monit & re-installing didn't work. Modifying the service file to
change ProtectHome=read-only got things going again.
