I have the same problem with VIA VT8251 south bridge. I have one SATA
disc and linux kernel (Ubuntu 8.04) can not find it (Win XP can).

Care to boot with the "quiet" and "splash" options removed. Then would
you be able to take a digital photo of your screen where it crashes?
