I've had this problem with Edgy on my iMac G5. I had to wipe my entire
disk to get Ubuntu to install properly, then manually set up Yaboot
after installing OS X.

I had this same problem. It cost hours of fiddling! :-((
I was installing ubuntu 6.06 on top of Suse on my PowerBook.
therefore I already had the Newworld boot partition as well as swap and /boot
and /.
I asked the partitioner to reformat swap, /boot and /.
I then was given an error message say
I can't confirm that. The mac in question has been repurposed and is
off-site, running OSX only now.
