The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

Well, _that_ patch I have no problem testing: it just replaces a dump by a
message, and the ending result should be essentially the same: the ACPI
stack cannot deal with my (nVidia) video card (AIUI)...
If you send me something to test (kernel image, I suppose), I shall run it
ASAP and send you al
Hi Herve,
Sorry for the delayed response. Thanks for the upstream pointer.
Unfortunately, it looks like the patch referenced there still hasn't
been merged into mainline yet. I wonder if it may have been overlooked
and the upstream bug report just needs to be nudged again. Also, I'm
just curiou
This is a fix that might already be in 2.6.25:

HI Herve,
I apologize if you felt I was jumping to conclusions here. I should
have worded my question better . . .I'm trying to understand if you are
still able to reproduce the ACPI oops on a regular basis. If so, per
the kernel team's bug policy, can you please attach the following

Well, as the title says, the bug reported is NOT about usplash, but about an
ACPI oops, which may or may not have caused the splash problem. Ths splash
issue was reported to help the person solving the bug track the possible
causes more easily.
Please always re-read the original reports before jum
Hi Herve,
I just want to clarify, your machine is now booting successfully with
and without usplash enabled correct? If so, we can go ahead and close
