Please see bug #202453 regarding atheros+network-manager problems, there
was a change in network-manager that broke atheros access. If you can't
manually configure using iwconfig you may have a different problem. I
am using Ubuntu 2.6.24-12.22-generic with atheros and fglrx.

I just want to claify some things. Is it that the ubuntu kernel
2.6.24-11 works but 2.6.24-12 is where you have issues? Per the kernel
team's bug policy, can you please attach the following information when
running the 2.6.24-12 kernel? Please be sure to attach each file as a
separate attachment
This effects all acers with this type of atheros also Ethernet
controller: Atheros Communications, Inc. AR242x 802.11abg Wireless PCI
Express Adapter (rev 01). I am running 2.6.24-11 with no problems.
