Just installed today's (24 march) hardy updates which includes cheese
2.22.0-0ubuntu1. Deleted pictures now go to the wastebasket
(~/.local/share/Trash).

Same here on Hardy, cheese moves trashed images to ~/.Trash, but the trash
folder is now located in ~/.local/share/Trash .
I think this is related to GVFS changes.
