I have an HP Pavilion dv6000, another really common laptop. The same problem
occurs with me too.
I am attaching a copy of the dmesg from the system log viewer. Also, this
problem started only after one of the recent updates (within the last week or
so).?field.comment=I have an HP Pavilion dv6000
Reopen please - occurs on the popular Dell 1525, using up to date 9.04

Well dmesg wasn't helpful. Marking as Confirmed since you have a pretty
common laptop and you are running a recent version of Hardy. Can you go
through the entire dmesg and look for any messages related to the cdrom
and post them.

It happend again! It happend exactly when I opened my Pidgin buddy
window from the tray, so that package might be the issue. Here is the
output of the command you told me to run. Do you think the issue is
because I do not have wireless installed? As background, I do not have
the graphics driver ins

Hardy Heron Alpha 5, soon 6. I actually haven't seen this occur after the
newest upgrades so let's hope it's gone already...I will post the result of
that dmesg command if it does happen again, I have it saved
