Same here on ASUS F3Ka. Anyway, if acpi-support successfully sends the
web button event to X server, maybe this is a bug with some KDE/GNOME
settings?

Are you using Gnome (Ubuntu) or something else (e.g. Kubuntu)?
/etc/acpi/webbtn.sh (which gets executed) simulates a keypress with key code
150 ($KEY_WWW).
As far as I understand this should be caught then by Gnome to open your browser.
Anyway, "sudo acpi_fakekey 150" does nothing for me, too (KDE
