That isn't a solution. Try and be practical. Many people use the .local suffix on their domain names. They're not going to change it just so that they can add an Ubuntu machine to their domain - or because you said so. This needs to be fixed. There needs to be a way around the problem. I understan

Ahm... This isn't a bug in likewise. It's just bad luck, cause there's a 'war' for '.local' between Apple and Microsoft. You can find out some details here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeroconf#Name_resolution Solution: don't use '.local' for anything. Use '.lan' or something like that. -- Dom

The next thing worth checking, is to make sure that DNS is properly configured for the domain, and that the PDC is configured to use it. As an example when I was setting up a test machine my PDC also served DNS, but wasn't using 127.0.0.1 for lookups. Can you double check that? Also, if you need
