Thanks for an update!
I can confirm the bug no longer happens with mutter (and friends, i.e.
mutter-common, libmutter etc) 42.1-0ubuntu1 (installed from jammy-
proposed). I'm not observing any other issues or side effects.

DING is a workaround because it is actually an app window that covers
the whole desktop, mostly transparent.
