I will try to install something intrepid/jaunty -64 on the same partition I
reported the failure earlier, but I do not think this has to do with bug
149832, as the install partition was already occupied with ext3 (and Gutsy-386).
But it could have something to do with the swapping/addition of the
"You have to be careful" - rubbish! Ubuntu ought to get it right for
you.

I think this might have been due to bug 149832 (but I don't want to mark
it as a duplicate without being sure). Would it be possible for you to
set up the same test with Ubuntu 8.10, and tell me whether that

This is not a bug. You have to be careful when installing many OS's on
the same system. Google "grub error 17" for more info.
