I still can't get this to work.
Tried the modeset in /etc/default/grub... it just gets to a blank screen.
I don't have an integrated GPU, so it's using the nvidia.

I made wayland work and the option return by editing /etc/default/grub
and adding
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="nvidia-drm.modeset=1"
